Why are we, CLC, a non-denominational Christian church, observing the season of Lent?

As a church called to equip believers to be ministers of reconciliation, healing and mercy, it is crucial that we have authentic experiences of a life of worship that includes times of great celebration and also times of reflection, sacrifice and of crying out to God. Seeing and loving God in all of our life demands that we have seasons that take us to the depths of our sin as well as to the heights of God s grace. Lent gives new meaning to our own desperate need for reconciliation and healing that need to happen and continue to happen as we minister and extend grace to others. Lent has become an integral experience of what it means to be a Missional Community here at CLC. Authentic Christian community becomes life-giving to others as we work together through the difficult issues in our lives that surface during the Lenten season.
