Why are volunteers important at Treasure Coast Hospices?
Volunteers are important to Treasure Coast Hospices because they provide support for our staff. They are part of our interdisciplinary team of patient care. Volunteers provide bereavement support and raise money for our patient care funds. Five percent of all paid patient care hours provided by our staff must be volunteer hours in order for our organization to be Medicare reimbursed. Q: How much time is suggested to donate as a volunteer? A: We ask that you give 2-4 hours per week realizing that volunteers have lives! We will work around your schedule! Q: Do I need a health care background? A: No. We will provide you with the education and tools that you need to do your volunteer work effectively. Q: What kind of training do I receive? A: Treasure Coast Hospices offers volunteer training several times a year.
