Why are Veterans an initiative of the McCormick Foundation?

0

Veterans were very dear to Col. McCormick. Having served in the First Division in WWI, he had a deep love of country and a profound respect for Veterans and the sacrifices they made for this country. When Col. Robert R. McCormick died in 1955, the trustees of his legacy knew of his love for the U.S. Armed forces and Veterans, and have continued to make provisions for them since that time. In 2008, the McCormick Foundation formalized their Veterans-focused grantmaking with the creation of a sixth program focused solely on Veterans and their families.
