Why are VAT Registration Numbers rejecting?
If your customer’s VAT Registration Number has been rejected please check the EC country codes and customer VAT number format to ensure it is in the correct format for the relevant Member State. For new customers we suggest that you check the validity of their VAT Number. You can use this link http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/vieshome.do to confirm that the number is valid and to verify the name and address is correct, or you can contact the VAT Helpline on 0845 010 9000. If you have been advised by us that a customer’s registration number is invalid then you must not continue to use it to zero rate supplies to that customer.
