Why are traditional bass units used to complement some NXT technology applications?
Very low frequencies are often best reproduced by a conventional woofer or subwoofer. Although it is quite feasible for a large NXT panel to reproduce these frequencies, panels of such size are usually not desirable in real-world products. Alternatively, NXTs Audio Full Range (AFR) technology, in which a single diaphragm combines the desirable properties of a piston driver at low frequencies with those of NXT modal operation at mid and high frequencies, can achieve greater than 8 octaves bandwidth.
