Why are there two different styles of the 1999 video-design covers?

Yes, I was curious of this curiosity when I compared it to the advertisements I had on May [of 1999] then my new purchased copy in August. Apparently I asked the manager of my local Disney Store why the advertisement showed a graphic design-like cover (Basil in maroon color seeming almost computer-like, shown above left) when the video had a illustration-like cover (Basil in full-colour seeming almost air-brushed, shown above right). Her answer was that The Disney Company does this often for special collector’s items. It is one of those many special purks available only to Disney personnel. Sniff sniff!
