A.The primary aim of the bus corridor is to provide southbound bus priority, which takes into account future traffic growth. This is the reason for the traffic signals, with a bus priority phase at the junction of Padnell Road/London Road. Durley Avenue has a history of right turning accidents into and out of the junction. Where other works are proposed, as elsewhere along ZIP bus corridor, road safety schemes are incorporated into the main project, thereby minimising disruption. Due to the proximity of Durley Avenue to Padnell Road the two signals are linked. The decision to relocate the pedestrian crossing was made following a detailed pedestrian survey carried out between 7am and 7pm during a school day.
