Why are there sometimes weather Alerts on TripCheck and other times not?
This is a good question to answer as we are having very high “heat wave” temperatures across Oregon, and there are no Alerts on TripCheck regarding these high temperatures. First, let’s discuss how weather data does appear on TripCheck. There are several types of data that are weather related and are put into the TripCheck system. We have automated weather stations from weather devices in the field, we have data from operators that they enter from crews reporting in from reporting stations (usually winter only), NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) forecasts are automated updates specific to regions around the state (under weather outlook tab on the TripCheck web site), and finally we have these NOAA weather alerts.
