Why are there so many adjectives to describe leadeship?
Leadership is obviously a multi-faceted capability, with numerous desired traits in a super leader. When leadership gets in trouble in some way, then academics and book merchants trot out their prescriptive adjective for the apparent latest shortcoming. But leadership is leadership is leadership. And the best leaders will each have their own strong traits and a few weak ones. Otherwise to simplistically call for rational, or servant, or whatever is quite beside the point. It is just the latest “flavor of the month” with no real lasting consequence. A leader such as Churchill or Welch are not going to change how they lead based on the latest leadership fad. They stand or fall based on whom they are – class-act classic leaders with an abundance of adjectives to their name!
