Why are there separate norms for Block Design with and without time bonuses?
Practitioners have suspected that some children who emphasize accuracy over speed of performance may score lower on Block Design because of time bonuses, while others believe that faster performance reflects a higher level of the ability being measured. The separate scores allow practitioners to evaluate these hypotheses with individual children. Practitioners should be aware that most children in the standardisation sample achieve very similar scores on Block Design and Block Design Non-Time Bonus. In fact, a difference as small as two points is considered rare.
