Why are there panoramas on the Photosynth Web site?

We’ve realized that some of the best Photosynths are actually panoramas. (A series of overlapping photos shot from a single location.) Microsoft Research has developed a world class panoramic image stitcher called Microsoft Image Composite Editor (ICE for short), and we wanted to make this technology available to our community. The latest version of ICE has a “publish to Photosynth” feature, and we’ve built support for uploading, exploring and viewing ICE panoramas throughout Photosynth.
