Why are there now 50 x two mark questions from December 2011 and is this structure likely to change again in the near future?

When looking at the examination of all three Knowledge module papers, for consistency it was decided that a common structure for all three papers would be desirable in that it would reflect the 2 hours time allowed for each paper, particularly now that there are more ‘scenario’ based application questions within F1. ACCA introduced the 50 x 2 marks question structure to F1, as an interim measure, as it is planned to move to a mix of short and longer type questions in all Knowledge module examination papers during 2012, once the new syllabus, introduced from December 2011, has properly bedded in. ACCA will provide sufficient notice to students of any further change to the exam structures for F1 and the other Knowledge module examinations. Published materials will also contain examples of the new style questions planned for introduction during 2012, so that students will become familiar with the type of longer questions to expect in the near future.
