Why are there no purple Christmas lights?

I would assume it is because purple is the color that signifies Jesus’ death and therefore used during lent up to Good Friday. That is why purple is used in Mardi Gras celebrations. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to use this color when celebrating the birth of Christ.
