Why are there names of candidates who have announced that they have dropped out of the Presidential race on the ballot?
The candidate names that appear on the Presidential Primary ballot were finalized by the Washington Secretary of State office on December 29, 2007. Even though a candidate may announce that they are dropping out of the Presidential race, their name will still appear on the Presidential Primary ballot if the announcement is after December 31, 2007.
