Why are there fees for transactions and currency exchanges?

Although CultureLoad is an online marketplace for digital works, it is not an online bank; CultureLoad does not operate money transfers. All money transfers are assigned by CultureLoad to be operated by PayPal or Moneybookers, and money transfers themselves costs money, too. This cost is called a “transaction fee,” and is charged by PayPal and Moneybookers. CultureLoad has no impact on the imposition of transaction fees. The buyers therefore have to pay for transaction fees. Similarly, CultureLoad doesn’t operate any international online money transfers itself, while the transfer of international money itself costs money. This fee is imposed by local banks and CultureLoad members pay this exchange fee.
