Why are there different temperature ratings for the same material diaphragm in the Dia-Flo catalog (Weir vs. Straightway)?
The diaphragm, being a non-metallic material, is the weakest component in the diaphragm valve. The diaphragm’s physical properties will degrade with increasing temperature. The straightway diaphragm must go through a much larger deflection than the weir diaphragm. Therefore, its tolerance on higher temperatures is lower.
