Why are there different rules regarding mens and womens facilities?

0

This is due to the different philosophies of their respective national organizations. For example, women’s national policies and house corporations will stipulate that the facilities will be substance or alcohol free. Men’s national offices and house corporations may allow students who are of legal drinking age to consume alcohol in the facility. These rules and regulations will be discussed during recruitment as well as at new member and chapter meetings. However, a few national fraternities now stipulate that their facilities are “dry” or substance free (no alcohol is allowed in the housing facility.) All fraternities and sororities regardless of their living arrangements are expected to uphold their values of their organization as well as abide by all university rules and regulations.
