There are different languages because groups of humans developed language in isolation from one another. Additionally, as humans began to explore and migrate their languages did as well. That’s why many languages share similar words and sounds.

When people are geographically isolated the languages drift apart. Each geographical location makes different language changes every year until they are different altogether. The world would be better off if we all just spoke English.
