Why are there big-ass trees all over Gray World?
The first arboreal Old Ones transformed into massive “world trees” long ago to grow and cover the earth. It is hinted that they did this to protect the planet from something which only they can remember. It is known that it took hundreds of Old Ones to begin the process of burying Gray World, but not why or how they achieved this effect. There is only one place in Gray World that is not covered by the trees, and that’s the city of Ir. It is presumed that the trees avoid this area because of the Irian Tikri, an ancient artifact located at the center of a complex maze.
