Why are the weights lower than clumping litters?
Essentials™ has a lower density than clay and clumping litters. Consumers only use as much as they need to fill the volume in the litter box, so while the weight is lower, the uses are the same. This has a number of benefits. First, consumers will find this product much easier to carry and pour than heavier litters. Second, it feels softer to the paws of all cats, but especially kittens. Finally, it’s easier to handle in the store and at check out. How absorbent is Essentials?™ It absorbs approximately 2 times more liquid. This is far in excess of the approximate 70% carrying capacity of clay-based litters. Essentials™ absorbs from the top down and clumps do not adhere to the litter tray bottom, eliminating sticking to the litter pan.
