Why are the version numbers of the Adaptec s Easy CD Creator recording software different from the retail version?
Adaptec uses an OEM version for OEMs, which means when a company like Mitsumi purchases software to bundle with its drives they give it a different version number sometimes. This helps them tell whether it is a version that was purchased directly from them or if it is an OEM version. Most of the Direct CD upgrades, are not compatible with the Mitsumi CD-R’s. If you look on the list of supported drives that Adaptec has on their site it will tell you that the latest version of Direct CD.
