Why are the various taxes, fees and surcharges not included in the PPS Value credited to me?
The various fees and taxes are normally collected on behalf of government agencies and are not included in the revenue earned by Singapore Airlines. These fees and taxes are therefore not included in the PPS Value credited to members. Fuel surcharge was also not taken into consideration in determining the PPS Value for membership qualification and renewal criteria. The main consideration in excluding fuel surcharge from the PPS Value credit is because fuel surcharge is dependent on market conditions and is expected to fluctuate. By excluding this variable component, the PPS Value criteria for qualification and renewal can then be set at a fixed value.
