Why are the Toolkit releases so different in size?
2003-10-03 We have not considered the size as being particularly important. We liked the convenience of having the Toolkit available as an Excel Workbook, and while we were reasonably careful to avoid large example worksheets, we were not not as concerned about the size of the Visual Basic and we did not deliberately clear its workspaces. For the Oct. 2, 2003 release of the QDE Toolkit Professional Version 2.07, we did clear the workspaces – and both the .xls and zipped files are noticeably smaller. The minimum size we can easily achieve for the Visual Basic code of the full Toolkit Version 2.07 is about 95 kB: the five modules are exported as .bas files (giving about 500 kB of files) and then zipped. If the Toolkit’s .dll’s are in your computer’s C:\QDE2\ directory, these files need only be unzipped and imported as modules into Excel’s VBA – and you will be ready to analyze (or enter and analyze) data.
