Why are the the Royal Proclamation of 1763 and the Quebec Act of 1774 so important?
Both attempted to restrict settlement from the American colonies into inland territories, inflaming colonial passions for independence, The Royal Proclamation of 1763 attempted to restrict settlement after the French and Indian War to east of the Appalachians. The Quebec Act set the boundary of Quebec at the Ohio, taking western claims to the Ohio country away from colonies from Virginia northward.
