If you are using AOL’s browser, the pictures may have been compressed automatically by AOL for faster retrieval. To avoid this, you can use the latest versions of the Netscape or Microsoft browsers over AOL. As for the pictures being too dark (or light), this may be caused by your monitor not being set properly. Click here to adjust your monitor’s brightness, then click here to adjust the contrast.
