Why Are The Pairs Of Wires Twisted Together In UTP Cable?
UTP is Unshielded Twisted Pair. Twisted pair cabling is a type of wiring in which two conductors are wound together to make cross talking from neighboring wires possible. It is used in telephone. Twisting wires reduces interference because the area between the wires which determines the magnetic coupling into the signal is reduced. Often, both the wires carry equal and differing signals which are combined by subtraction at the destination and the noise from the two wires cancel each other in this subtraction. The twist rate is usually defined in twists per meter. The twist rate makes up specification for a given type of cable. UTP cables use twisted pair for the above mentioned reason. The entire American network Uses UTP cables including AT&T.
