Why are the numbers or units for an Image offset (for an image in action) different for the numbers or units in the same images axis? Can I change them?
The Surface offsets are in “pure” pixel units – before camera aspect ratio corrections. As such, they are accurate in terms of the original pixel size of the images. The surfaces are eventually projected into a 3d camera space that takes into account the aspect ratio corrections for display. The axis numbers are not “pure” pixels numbers and are not equivalent to the surface numbers. They take into account the camera aspect ration correction. So, if you want to “reset” objects to their original locations, you’ll have to stick with one set of units – either surface or axis…unless you have version 4.6 In Inferno/flame version4.6/7.6 it is possible, by using the Ruler in the setup menu in action to set different co-ordinate distances. This tool allows you to define the number of units between any 2 points on the screen – very handy for some 3D tracking work. The only warning is that dragging or sliding in numeric boxes will not scale proportionally, so you will need to avoid very very sm
