Why are the MSN groups closing in february 2009?
As of October 2008, Microsoft has announced the MSN Groups Service will be closing down on February 21, 2009. Users will still be able to retain their information even with the closure. Users have the option of migrating their data to a social website known as “Multiply”, MSN’s partner for online groups. MSN Groups will become Windows Live Groups, November 2008, but the tools that can be possibly utilized differs from that of the current MSN Groups features. Windows Live Groups are not being launched as or marketed as a replacement for MSN Groups. MSN groups are being decommissioned as part of the dismantling of the services side of MSN. The only official option Groups are being given is the opportunity to migrate to www.multiply.com.
