Why are the Knicks pursuing Grant Hill?
He’s old, he’s prone to injury, and he’s never been out of the first round of the playoffs. What’s the interest in Grant Hill? What does he have that others don’t? I realize the Knicks need a veteran swingman they can trust, but why not go with a younger guy? Linas Kleiza is available. So are Marvin Williams and Matt Barnes. All three are hard-nosed players who are younger than Hill. And all three are capable of contributing in a meaningful way. (Hell, each of them has been out of the first round of the playoffs already. Which is more than you can say for the venerable Mr. Hill.) So why get into a bidding war with Boston for Hill’s services? It makes no sense. I’m not trying to bash Grant Hill here. I have a lot of respect for what he has accomplished over the course of his career. (Injuries aside.) But this is ridiculous. Hill got hooked up to the fountain of youth in Phoenix and had a great season. He averaged a 12-4.9 while shooting over 50% from the floor. But he’s 36 years old and
