Why are the Internet access statistics skewed ?
It came to my attention that the number of computers in a country sometime differs greatly from the number of Internet users in that same country, so I was wondering whether the various Internet access statistics should be adjusted to consider this factor. Let me explain better with two very clear examples: In the USA there are 264 million computers but 220 million Internet users, with a ratio of 86 users for every 100 computers. In Brazil there are 33 million computers but 50 million Internet users, with a ratio of 150 users for every 100 computers. You can understand that, unless the monitoring/counting tool takes this into account by resetting a flag each time that a different user is on the same computer, those connecting from the USA will actually be counted almost twice as many times as they should than those connecting from Brazil.
