Why are the houses named after characters and not after Gryffindor, Slytherin, etc.?

Well, chances are, almost everyone would want to be in Gryffindor. I wanted the number of people in each House to be somewhat equal, and I’d like everyone to be in the house they WANT to be in. With Harry’s House, Hermione’s House, etc, the number of students per house can be more even, so I can put almost everyone in the house they want. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with changing things up every once in a while, right? I can’t sign into my House. Now what? -The Houses can be a little tricky at times. Make sure the caps lock isn’t on, and make sure you are typing in the password correctly (you have to use the password I send to you after you are sorted!) I filled out a form a while ago, and you still haven’t responded. Why? Did you put in your FULL email address? I can’t respond to you without it! I won’t assume it’s at aol.com unless you actually PUT “@aol.com”. That goes for yahoo, hotmail, gmail, and any other email provider. If you forgot to do this, go back and fill out the form
