Why are the graded quizzes timed but not the practice quizzes?
The graded quizzes are timed to simulate the testing environment of the examinations in the course. In addition, for the Medical General Pathology course, the graded quiz testing environment has been constructed to closely resemble that of the USMLE (you can download practice Step 1 software for a closer look from here). On both the graded quizzes and the examinations in the Medical General Pathology course, you will be allowed 72 seconds per question, which is the same amount of time alotted for both the computerized USMLE Step 1 and the NBME shelf exams that you will take as part of your third year clerkships.
