Partly it’s convention: quick crosswords tend to be on a 13 x 13 cell grid, while cryptic crosswords tend to be on a 15 x 15 cell grid. But mainly it’s because the cryptic crosswords are our premium product and the larger grid allows for greater flexibility and stronger personalisation.
