Why are the color printers the default destination for print jobs in CAEN computer labs?

0

In CAEN computer labs that contain color printers, the color printers (i.e. -maize) are the default printers to which all print jobs are submitted rather than the black & white-only printers (i.e. -blue). The color printers are newer and faster, providing better service to CAEN lab users. However, lab users are not charged the rate for color pages on these printer unless the color option is specifically selected at the time the job is submitted. In addition, even when the color option is selected, users will only be charged the color rate for the pages that actually contain color text or images. For more information on the different printing costs, please see our printing allocation page.
