Why are the British police frightened of politicians?
The UK police officer of the past was very efficient, not stressed by government rules on the soft treatment of criminals. Perhaps the present government became aware that too many locked up meant fewer votes at election times. They can’t even pass mild jokes between themselves in case a member of the government gestapo reports them. I understand that recently a senior police officer was severely censured for saying at a private occasion that the car manufacturer’s initials BMW stood for Bl**k Man’s Wheels. I wouldn’t at all be offended if the initials were reversed to WMB meaning White Man’s Buggy. But then I haven’t a chip on my shoulder. I recently met a police officer who had retired 7 years ago and was now working for a lefty local authority. When speaking to him I couldn’t believe he was the same person I’d known 7 years ago.
