Why are the bats shorter than a regular bat?
The shorter length, when used in training, improves the player’s pitch selection and teaches him or her to have his center of gravity closer to the ball at contact, one of the keys to hitting with power. It also reduces the number of outside pitches that a hitter will swing at and often results in a decrease in the number of strike outs and an increase in the number of walks.
