They were designed from the ground up with the creative professional in mind. The key benefit of the large screen is the amount of information that can be displayed at one time. The Apple Cinema HD Display supports a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels, that’s more than 2.3 million pixels. The Apple Cinema Display supports a 1600-by-1024-pixel resolution, more than 1.6 million pixels. Both offer substantially more onscreen workspace than is typically available on a 21-inch CRT display. Because much of the data used by creative professionals is formatted to be wider than it is tall, it was natural to design a display with this capability. Graphic designers work on two-page spreads.
