IDDM is confusing to most people, but for those with type 1 diabetes it is most self explanatory. These people must take insulin in order to live from day one of diagnosis. NIDDM is not descriptive of type 2 diabetes at all. Quite a few of us must take insulin to live, but are also very Insulin Resistant. And what you wrote is NOT the abbreviations for the conditions, but the old names for them. I used the abbreviations.
