Why are sum babys blue at birth?

0

The color of the baby is evaluated at birth in his or her apgar score. Babies that are less pink at birth have had less o2 then babies that are pink. A lot of babies have bluish fingertips or toes. This could be caused by length of labor or even distress that the baby went through where he/she was not getting enough o2. Cord around neck, mother not breathing properly are two commen causes. Being bluish at birth is not always a sign of any problems later in life. My oldest had some problems during labor because I was not getting her enough o2 but she is a great very healthy smart 11 yr old now. My 3rd had the cord around his neck and he is also totally fine and even above average in his development. I wouldn’t worry unless there were other problems with the baby at birth, like no heart rate or no breathing etc.
