We use all of our senses. The Catholic Church is 2000 years old. For most of it’s existence the common person could not read or write. Also, if you were Christian you were Catholic. Is keeping statues or pictures of saints idolatry? Look at the pictures of your loved ones in your wallet or around your home or office. Why do you keep these particular pictures? You might answer that you carry those pictures to remind you of people you love, to help you feel that they’re close to you when you’re not together, or to share with people you meet. They are breaking the first two commandments,in the NT jesus tore down a temple because it held statues and images of other gods.Jesus will not enter a building that holds statues of anykind.God said he was a jealious god and not to bow down to anyone but himself and no-one should make graven images of anything in heaven or on the earth.Christians are told to have jesus in their heart,if they had this then they would not need reminders of god.
