Why are SpongeBob SquarePants parents round like sea sponges while he is square like a kitchen sponge?
While we are on the subject, don’t forget that sponges reproduce asexually, which means they have only one biological parent. The offspring have the same genetic code as the parent. Unless SpongeBob and his parents are a different genus of sponges, he is either a very rare mutation (from either parent) , or he is adopted, or he had unmentioned major surgery in his infancy.
