Why are Speech and Hearing Screenings done?
A speech screening identfies children who may need further testing in fluency, voice quality, articulation or language. A licensed speech/language therapist listens to each child and determines if the child is within normal limits or if further testing is needed. An audiologist screens the children for hearing problems at the same time. Often, hearing problems caused by fluid or was in the ears, sinus/allergy problems, colds or ear infectons can interfere with speech.
