Why are sometimes the categorical precipitation flags set to no precipitation when the accumulated precipitation is larger than 0?
RR includes flags that type the precipitation into liquid, snow, ice pellets and freezing rain. It was noted that not all the (0-3 hour) accumulated precipitation was typed. The problem is that the flags are instantaneous and the precipitation is accumulated. So some regions with accumulated precipitation will not have any precipitation when the precipitation flags are set.
