Some vinyl tapes are cold weather resistant and flame retardant. These characteristics are based on the chemicals that are processed in the film and adhesive, thus, some vinyl electrical tapes cost more than others. The amount of cold weather and flame resistance is based on the amount of the chemical called animony that is mixed in the film during the processing of the product. The cold weather characteristics are based on the amount of plasticizer chemicals that are, again, mixed in the film during processing.
