Why are some schools in the UK not equipped to provide for children with disabilities?
I have worked in a college with all the facilities such as lifts and ramps but it is not just the logistics of accessibility it is all the additional support costs of care assistants for toiletry, feeding, scribe support, touch screen and text to voice, transport additional support tutors for an individuals learning difficulty. Some schools and colleges do not have the infrastructure in place due to funding issues therefore it is a matter of having a limited choice of schools and college who can attract the funding and resources needed to make courses accessible . To research this further yourself some key words you might include are accessablity, inclusion, learner / students with learning difficulties. You could even contact local colleges or schools who may be able to access their policies on inclusion. The politicaly correct description of students with learning difficulties keep changing which makes researching difficult.
