Why are some people charged a fee when they go to a United Way funded agency?
United Way dollars provide only part of the operational expenses of an agency. In other words, United Way dollars and particular services and programs within that agency, specifically targeting those most in need. Although agencies dont solicit the community during the fall United Way drive, they can fundraise during other parts of the year to reduce program and operating expenses. If you are already supporting the United Way, you know you are making a significant contribution to the community and contributing to that agencys mission.
