Why are some of the text services on Freeview on separate channels?
This is probably largely for historical and legal reasons, although in some cases it may be for technical reasons such a lack of available bandwidth on a particular multiplex. Increasingly, text services on Freeview can now be accessed from normal television channels, with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky now providing this facility.
