Why are some of the article tools grayed out or unavailable?
For externally linked articles (indicated with an external link icon ), not all of our free features are available. The features that are unavailable are: print and tag. When you view an externally linked item on our site, the icons for these will be grayed out to indicate that they are unavailable. Other features that are still available, such as commenting, will appear next to the article as usual. The print feature is unavailable because the content of that article is not hosted on our site, so we cannot make it available to print. The other features are unavailable because externally linked items usually have a short expiration period, generally around two weeks.
