Why are some locations not qualified for a noise barrier?
At some locations, it may not be feasible to construct a barrier due to physical restrictions, and/or the cost of construction. A Noise Barrier may not significantly reduce the noise level in all cases. Each year, a field measurement of noise and concurrent traffic count are undertaken at each location on the list. This data is first evaluated to determine eligibility under the Policy. Locations that are deemed eligible undergo further detailed evaluation, Benefit/Cost calculation and prioritization against other candidates on the list.
