Why are some liberals so intolerant of Christians and their symbols of peace?
Thanks for saying “some” liberals–I appreciate that! As for intolerance, as other have mentioned, many liberals are concerned about how strongly the Republican party courted the favor of the Religious Right in the last two elections. Most liberals want to make sure that church and state stay separate, and thus that if a government agency *is* going to display a cross or nativity scene, they give “equal time” and attention to other religions as well. As far as intolerance, it can go the other way as well. Remember how last Christmas, in Colorado, a woman was being fined on a daily basis by her homeowner’s association because she refused to take down her peace symbol? The head of the homeowner’s association thought the symbol was “Satanic.” Luckily, with a lot of national attention, he backed off.
